1. Prepress design requirements for self-adhesive labels are as follows:
(1) Understand the production process route.
(2) Use spot colors more often to compensate for the deficiencies of four-color printing in color application. Colors should be concise and bright.
(3) Separate light and solid areas of the same color for plate-making.(4) Lines should not be too thin, and text should not be too small.
(5) Emphasize the use of middle tones in layering, with smooth transitions between highlights and shadows.
(6) Consider the orientation of the label and the position of the layout when imposing the label for printing.
2. Printing of self-adhesive labels with embossed resin plates:Films are produced using computer typesetting and exposed using a laser imagesetter. Negative images are commonly used, where the transparent part of the film has a density of less than 0.05, and the opaque part has a density greater than 3.0. The plate-making process involves exposure, development, drying, and then re-exposure.
3. Printing of self-adhesive labels with flexographic resin plates:Flexographic plates are characterized by high elasticity, resistance to printing pressure, and high resolution. To produce high-quality plates, besides using high-quality plate materials, high-quality plate-making techniques and equipment are also required. Currently, some of the better plate materials include DuPont's Cyrel plates and materials from BASF in Germany. These plates consist of three parts: a polyester protective layer, a photosensitive resin layer, and a polyester support film. The photosensitive resin layer is attached to the polyester support film to ensure dimensional stability, and a layer of polyester protective film is applied on top to protect the plate material from damage during handling, cutting, and back exposure processes.
